MAHOGANY FC striker Robert “Roboe” Kufa has wasted little time making his mark since his mid-season switch from Chiponjeka, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in just nine games.
Kufa joined Mahogany on the final day of the mid-season transfer window and has quickly become a key figure in the club’s push for a strong finish in the ZIFA Midlands Province Division 2B campaign.
His return of eight goals and three assists in nine appearances has been a major contribution to Mahogany’s rise, with the striker also scoring on his debut.
When Kufa arrived, Mahogany were sitting in 11th position, but the club has since climbed the table and now sits fifth with 35 points from 21 matches.
The team has recorded 10 wins, 5 draws, and 6 defeats, scoring 29 goals and conceding 20 in the process.
Kufa said his objective when he joined was simple.
“My main objective was to score goals. I felt I could make an immediate impact because of the good welcome they gave me.”
The striker believes there has been a clear change in both the team’s morale and its position on the log since his arrival.
“The morale changed and even the team position changed. From number 11, the team moved into the top five, and the number of fans was increasing every match.”
One of Kufa’s standout moments came against Chili FC, when Mahogany ended the league leaders’ unbeaten run, with Roboe also getting on the scoresheet.
“Obviously, against Chili we killed their unbeaten run and I managed to score.”
