The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of two suspects, Shephered Gundani and Edson Sithole, in connection with a series of armed robbery cases reported at Insukamini Farm, Lower Gweru, on 23 September 2026.
Police said the suspects, together with accomplices who are still at large, allegedly raided three homesteads while armed with pistols, machetes and knives.
The suspects allegedly threatened and assaulted victims before getting away with cash, several cellphones, a Toyota Fortuner and other valuables with a combined estimated value of about US$60 000.
The stolen Toyota Fortuner was later recovered on 25 September in Chivi after it had been abandoned.
Police said a machete and other items were found concealed beneath the driver’s seat.
Following the arrests, police recovered machetes, knives, torches and other items of evidential value from the suspects’ respective residences.
Investigations have also linked Gundani and Sithole to other armed robbery cases reported in Lalapanzi, Mvuma and Masvingo, according to the ZRP.
Police said investigations are continuing as efforts to account for the remaining accomplices intensify.
