Rev. Dr. Doug Mambure, the Director of Dreamnet Group of Schools, celebrated his birthday by giving nearly 60 students at his school US$50 each. His birthday falls on September 15, the same day as President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s birthday.
Dr. Mambure thanked God for another year of life and chose to mark the occasion by sharing with students at his institution. He views life as a gift from God and intends his birthday celebrations to positively impact others’ lives, especially learners, whose education is a priority for him.
“I am grateful to God for adding another year to my life. Life is a gift from God, and I wanted to celebrate by giving back to the learners,” Dr. Mambure said.
However, the celebrations occurred during a challenging time for the Mambure family, following the death of his sister-in-law, who was buried in Mhondoro a day after his birthday.
Despite his grief, Dr. Mambure remained thankful for the gift of life and chose to continue supporting the learners.
Dreamnet Group of Schools is a newly established private institution located in Mkoba, Gweru, comprising both Junior and High School sections.
Dr. Mambure, a pastor, philanthropist, and registered community psychologist, founded the school and is popularly known as the “Dancing Preacher” because of his passion for music.
Looking ahead, Dr. Mambure hopes to host a joint birthday celebration with other notable Zimbabweans who share his birthday, including President Mnangagwa and Bishop Andrew Wutawunashe Mutendi. He sees such gatherings as opportunities to celebrate life and give thanks to God.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mambure plans to launch a scholarship program during a celebration service at True Word Church International, Mkoba Assembly, on Sunday. These scholarships will assist learners currently enrolled at Dreamnet Group of Schools, as well as new students wishing to enroll.
Currently, around 10 learners are attending the school without paying fees, and Dr. Mambure hopes to increase the number of beneficiaries to 15 through the scholarship initiative. He believes that financial challenges should not hinder deserving students from receiving an education.
This birthday gesture and the planned scholarships are part of Dr. Mambure’s broader community-focused activities, with a strong emphasis on education.
He remains committed to supporting learners and creating opportunities for young people through both his school and church. Dr. Mambure operates an open-door policy, welcoming all who seek assistance.
