THE Establishment of a lithium processing plant in Zvishavane owned by Zheli Mining Investments is progressing well with the final phase almost complete.

With the capacity to process 500 tonnes of ore per day, the US$1.5 million plant is working round the clock to ensure it starts operations next month.

“We have since completed the installation phase and have done a dry run to see if it is functioning well and we are so far excited. We are thrilled to have had an opportunity to showcase our operations.

The government’s support for the lithium industry is crucial to our success, and we appreciate the government efforts,” ZHELI Mining Investments General Manager, Mr Kudakwashe Zimhondi said.

Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Owen Ncube says the mining sector plays a crucial role in Zimbabwe’s economy and integral to the aspirations of Vision 2030.

“We gather here not only to witness the remarkable advancement in lithium mining but also to reflect on the broader potential of our province’s rich mineral endowments, which include gold in different districts.

These resources are pivotal to our national social economic development and are integral to the aspirations outlined in our national Vision 2030,” Honourable Ncube said.

The lithium mine is looking at creating employment for locals once operational.
