Zimbabwe Liberated Girl Child in Action (ZLGCA) is working tirelessly with a mission to
empower and uplift the daughters of the Zimbabwe’s liberation war heroes and heroines through income-generating projects.
Speaking to this reporter ZLGCA Executive Director Anna Mabhena Chadzamira said that their aim as an organization is to ensure the sustainability of programs and projects that will benefit all daughters of the veterans countrywide.
“As an organization, we realized that as daughters of the war veterans, we are somehow disadvantaged in a way that some of us our parents died in the liberation struggle, and others were injured to an extent that they were not able to cater for us and that others are not even educated.”
“That is when we chip in as an organization to ensure that they are empowered through
development projects, income-generating projects as well as physical training on financial
literacy.”
Chadzamira went on to say that their aim to to ensure that war veterans girl children benefit from government programs as well.
“We aim to ensure that children of war vets are well taken of, and benefit from all government programs for instance getting proper and quality education, getting land.
As an organization, we also then step in as an organization to ensure sustainability of projects and programs.”
“We even went as far as approaching His Excellency Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa and the talks are still underway. We are here to address all the challenges orphaned girls of war veterans are facing by empowering them for now we have goats’ projects, mining and agricultural projects.”
Zimbabwe Liberated Girl Child in Action was formed last year in August to empower girl orphans from war vets.
So far it is in other parts of the country like Harare, Norton, Bulawayo, Kwekwe and yet to come to Gweru and Shurugwi respectively.
In all provinces, it has empowered about 1600 girls from fifteen to 35 years of age.
