ZIMASCO donates to ZRP Mbizo

Blessing Nduku

In a gesture that exemplifies the power of public-private partnerships, ZIMASCO, one of the region’s leading mining companies, has officially handed over a fully constructed ablution facility to ZRP Mbizo police station, an infrastructure upgrade worth USD 22000 that is set to significantly improve working conditions for officers and enhance service delivery to the local community.

Speaking on behalf of Propol, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Ngulube expressed profound gratitude to ZIMASCO, describing the donation as a milestone achievement for the station and a timely intervention following years of critical sanitation challenges.

“This donation dovetails into the philosophy of community policing, when corporate stakeholders like ZIMASCO assist the police, that help extends to the broader community. A well-supported police force is better positioned to deliver quality services to the public.”
“This donation addresses a critical gap that had existed from 2020 to 2025. The significance of what ZIMASCO has done cannot be overstated.”

Ngulube went on to reaffirm their commitment to service delivery as guided by the ZRP Client Service Charter launched in 1995.

“We remain committed to offering our business community and the general public the best possible service. Where any client feels dissatisfied but rather encouraged to escalate the matter to the Officer-in-Charge, Dispol, Propol, and if necessary, the Commissioner General of police.”

“To the criminal elements in our midst, consider this your warning. The spirits of the officers at their station have been revived by this donation. We are reenergized and will not hesitate to pursue justice with renewed vigour.”

ZRP Mbizo began its journey in 1978 as a small base under ZRP Kwekwe Central, serving just seven suburbs and an estimated population of 20,000. At the time, it operated with only three toilets, one each for male and female holding cells and a single unit for staff.

Over the decades, Mbizo’s suburbs grew to 23, with the population now exceeding 70,000.
Despite this growth, the station’s sanitation facilities were never upgraded and the situation worsened in 2020 when the old system suffered a major pumping failure and was declared condemned.

The new ablution facility stands not just as a physical structure but as a testament to what is possible when communities, businesses and law enforcement align their efforts for the greater good.
