ZDF Queens extend dominance as PNL second half kicks off

A tough battle is brewing in the Premier Netball League as the second half of the season kicked off in style this Saturday, with ZDF Queens clinching two big wins in the Beitbridge bubble to maintain their lead in the standings.

The Premier Netball League returned with a bang this Saturday, reigniting rivalries and unveiling a more refined league after a strategic half-season break.

The break saw third-placed Chapungu locking horns with some of the best teams in the region, a move that has brought excitement and anticipation for an epic second half of the campaign.

ZDF Queens quickly showed their hunger for this season’s championship, maintaining their silverware fight in their bubble matches, as they eye daylight between themselves and an ever-hungry Chapungu Queens and an equally ambitious Harare City outfit who are breathing down their necks.

“This second half of the season is going to be exciting. We have given our girls exposure to play at the highest level, which benefits not just one team, but the league as a whole,” PNL Vice Chair, Tendai Makate said.

Tactically, the mid-season break helped clubs to sharpen their chase for supremacy.
“Chapungu Queens’ silver medal in Botswana speaks volumes. It was not just about the team, it uplifted the image and confidence of Zimbabwean netball on the regional stage,” Makate added.

The second half of the campaign kicked off on a great note in the Bikita Bubble, where giants ZDF Queens showed their mettle, dismantling Aspindale 96-12, before outshining Buffaloes 107-13 to keep pole position ahead of Harare City and Chapungu.
