ZANU PF fires youth leader Natare

By Kelvin Kasiwulaya

Zanu-PF losing Gweru Urban Candidate Esau Machinyise Natare has been barred from conducting any party business amid accusations of dishonest conduct and continued indiscipline, The Sun has learnt.

Natare is not new to disciplinary action, in 2020 he was suspended from Zanu-PF for allegedly leaking classified secret information to the then-Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance, an allegation he denied.

In a letter seen by The Sun, dated 21 October 2022, signed by the ruling party’s Midlands Province Secretary for Administration Edmund Mukaratigwa, Natare has been prohibited from performing any official functions in the party.

“This letter serves to inform you of a position reiterated in a Provincial Management meeting on 21 October 2022. You are ordered to refrain from engaging in party activities and/or making comments about or on behalf of the party under any circumstances.

“Cde Esau Natare, it is understood that you have failed to conduct yourself honestly and you have further conducted yourself in a manner that is dishonorable against the expectations of a person under your circumstances, having faced disciplinary action. You continue to breach the party constitution through your misdemeanors knowledgeable of party procedures and regulations. Thus bringing the name of the party into disrepute or ridicule in contravention of provisions of Article 3 Section 5 of the ZANU PF party constitution.

“Take note that you are hereby prohibited from performing any official functions in the party with immediate effect,” reads part of the letter.

In the 2018 general elections, Natare lost the Gweru Urban poll to the MDC Alliance’s deputy legal affairs secretary Brian Dube.

Natare, is also the Gweru Brigade Commander for the National Youth Service.
When contacted for comment, Natare dismissed the allegations against him saying the author of the letter failed to outline the charges which he is facing.

“I’m at the Zanu PF congress right now, all those allegations against me are meant to prevent me from contesting in the primary elections next year. I’m going to consult on the next steps to take, said the firebrand youth leader. @kasiwulaya1
