Residents of Woodlands Park are celebrating a new era of safety and comfort following the successful rehabilitation of the area’s roads and drainage systems by RiverValley Group of Properties (RVP). This development has brought much-needed relief from persistent flooding that once threatened their homes.
For years, residents endured issues such as blocked sewer lines, burst pipes, and impassable roads, with water pooling around their houses during the rainy season. However, the rehabilitation program has transformed the community, restoring confidence and excitement among homeowners who now feel secure knowing their houses are no longer at risk of flooding.
In addition to improving the drainage systems, RVP has addressed water shortages by drilling one of the two planned boreholes, ensuring that residents have daily access to water.

Residents have expressed their gratitude for the visible changes, particularly the peace of mind that comes with knowing their homes are protected from flooding. Many have praised the developer for responding to the community’s long-standing concerns.
“For the first time in a long while, we are no longer afraid when it rains. The drainage system has been fixed, and our houses are safe from flooding. This development has brought us peace of mind,” one resident shared.
“We used to worry about water entering our yards and damaging our homes, but that is now a thing of the past. Seeing proper drainage in place and roads neatly done, particularly with these constant rains, has restored our confidence in Woodlands Park.”

RVP Chief Executive Officer Ambassador Professor Smelly Dube stated that as a land developer, their priority is to address the issues faced by residents.
“Our goal was to permanently resolve the drainage and sewer challenges that led to flooding in the past. By replacing old pipes and rehabilitating the roads, we have created a safer and more sustainable environment for residents.”
Professor Dube went on to advise residents against disposing of items into drainage systems to prevent flooding and pipe bursts.
“While we have invested heavily in fixing the drainage systems, improper disposal into these systems remains a challenge. We have deployed patrol officers to monitor the situation, educate residents, and take action against those who continue to cause blockages.”
Since May 2025, the comprehensive initiative has focused on clearing sewer blockages, rehabilitating damaged roads, and installing improved drainage systems designed to efficiently channel excess water away.
As the rehabilitation program continues, Woodlands Park stands as a clear example of how timely infrastructure investments can transform a community. With improved drainage systems, rehabilitated roads, and increased monitoring to protect the new infrastructure, residents can now look forward to a safer, flood-free environment and a more sustainable future.
