Woman jailed 15 years for “Virginity Testing”on 11-Year-Old

The Bindura Regional Magistrates’ Court has convicted a 33-year-old Mazowe woman and sentenced her to 15 years imprisonment for aggravated indecent assault. The ruling was handed down on Thursday, June 13, 2025.

The court heard that an 11-year-old female juvenile was the victim of the assault, which occurred on April 26, 2025, in Mazowe.

The offender, identified as a friend of the victim’s mother, allegedly lured the young girl under the false pretense of being sent by the mother to “conduct a virginity test.

According to the prosecution, the perpetrator then proceeded to commit the heinous act by inserting her fingers into her own private parts and subsequently into the complainant’s private parts.

The victim’s ordeal was abruptly interrupted when her mother unexpectedly entered the room and caught the offender in the act.

When confronted, the offender reportedly claimed she was performing a “virginity test.” The victim’s mother promptly reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of the perpetrator.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said the case sheds light on the “often-overlooked reality of female-on-female sexual assault,” which can be “just as damaging and traumatizing, as rape by a male. The NPA also said the sentence imposed reflects the severe gravity of such crimes and delivers a clear message that “such predatory behavior, regardless of the gender of the perpetrator or survivor, will not be tolerated.”
