Two vehicles stolen in Gweru, Zvishavane

Police in the Midlands have confirmed the investigation of two separate cases of theft of motor vehicles which occurred in Gweru Central Business District and Zvishavane on 1 June 2024.

Midlands Provincial Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said circumstances were that at around 1705 Garikai Kurefu parked his black Honda Fit vehicle and at around 1930 hours he returned to his car and found it missing.

“The first incident occurred at around 1705 hours where one Garikai Kurefu (47) of Mtapa parked his black Honda Fit motor vehicle, registration AFI 3214 at MWOS betting house, corner RG Mugabe Street and 3rd Street Gweru.

He locked his motor vehicle and went to a nearby restaurant for a business errand. At around 1930 hours he returned to his car and found it missing.“

The motor vehicle is valued at US$4000.

Insp Mahoko said that on another incident Daviton Tagwirei parked his motor vehicle at Makwasha Business Centre in Zvishavane and returned to the parking bay only not to find his car where he had parked it.

The other incident occurred at around 1930 hours when Daviton Tagwirei (56) of village Mbizo under Chief Makonese parked his vehicle at Makwasha Business Center, Jaravaza opposite Hove Butchery, Zvishavane.

The motor vehicle is a Silver Toyota ProBox registration number AGN 1827, chassis number NSP160-0012220, and engine number INRO828631.

He returned to the parking bay and failed to locate his vehicle which had various groceries and plumbing items valued at US$200.

A report was made at ZRP Zvishavane and the investigations led to the discovery of the motor vehicle parked meters away from the scene with all the doors unlocked.

The total value of the stolen property is US$7500 and it was all recovered.

“We urge the members of the public to leave valuable property in the custody of someone they trust when going away and one of the stolen vehicles has not been recovered therefore, we appeal for any information that can help in our investigations,” Mahoko said.
