Police in the Midlands province are investigating two cases of murder that occurred in Redcliff and Zhombe under Kwekwe District.
On 26 September 2023 at Mzira Business Centre, Redcliff at 1800hrs, the suspect Brian Gondo and the victim Thabo Ncube both aged 17years had a misunderstanding over an undisclosed issue.
It is alleged Brian struck Thabo with a stone on the head and he fell unconscious and the police intervened.
Thabo was taken to hospital and his condition continued to deteriorate until he died on 03 October 2023 while in admission at Mpilo Hospital, Bulawayo.
Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said that in the second incident occurred on 02 October 2023, the victim Freeman Sibanda was visited by two men alleged to be Courage and Learnmore Moyo at his residents- Mazoya village under Chief Mtabeni accusing him of having stolen a cellphone.
They assaulted him all over the body using a stick, brick and booted feet and unfortunately, he passed away on the following day.
“All three suspects in the two murder cases have not been arrested and we appeal for information on their whereabouts.
“May community leaders, church leaders and authorities in our society help in counseling their young ones on the importance of solving issues through dialogue,” said Insp Mahoko.
Meanwhile, police reported that they picked up a dead body of a male adult at a traffic circle near Fairmile Hotel, Bulawayo Road, Gweru on 02 October 2023 at 0600hrs.
Police officers who were commencing a roadblock nearby discovered the body. After the circulation of information, the body was identified to be of a local person James Zenzo Nyathi aged 38 years of Ascot High Density Suburb, Gweru.
The body was alongside the road and had two fractures on one of the legs and bruises all over. A kitchen knife was found in the pockets of a pair of trousers which the man was putting on.
The police is appealing for information to establish the full circumstances leading to the man’s demise. #TheSun
