Three men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Joseph Chirenje (27) who was assaulted and killed near a dip tank on March 20.
Chirenje was drinking beer with friends at Parker Business Centre before parting ways to buy groceries at Gwandu General Dealer.
All the suspects and the deceased are said to be of Village 2 Parker, Chief Ntabeni, Silobela.
The spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Midlands Province, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed that Chirenje dead over a grudge between him and Samson Mhlanga.
Meanwhile a group of suspects., including Omega Ndlovu and Tafadzwa Sibanda, both 18 and Forget Sibanda (30) arrived at the shops, armed with logs and empty beer bottles, seeking revenge against Chirenje over a grudge between him and Mhlanga.
The suspect indiscriminately assaulted people, and Chirenje’ s body was found the next morning near the dip tank.
An investigation led to the arrest of Omega and Tafadzwa, who implicated three other suspects, including Forget Sibanda, Bernard Mpofu, and Samson Mhlanga.
Forget Sibanda was arrested, while Bernard and Samson remain at large.
Inspector Mahoko urged the public to bring in information on Bernard and Samson to the police.”We are appealing to the public for information leading to their arrest.”
