Boxer Liberty Muwani
Gweru based boxer, Liberty Muwani known as ‘Libho (pictured above) the Stopper’, won the Kalacoda and Kwese promotion championship tournament held at Harare International Conference Center.
Muwani has done the city proud in Harare as he came back with the middle weight belt after winning all the four rounds of the Kalacoda Championship which he had lost from the previous match.
Speaking to The SunSport, the boxer expressed that, he had smelled victory before the game had even started, and he is happy with the comeback after he lost the tithes of 12 rounds to Enoch Musainodzi at Warren Park sports club Magamba Hall.
He added that, he had always expected to be successful because he had really trained hard for the tournament and managed to beat his opponent with 43 points in 30 minutes.
“I had always known that l would be victorious since l trained three times per day without any rest and for that reason on my fourth round I managed to beat my opponent Nicola Mutonhora within a 30 minute period,” said Muwani.
His coach Bonaparte Mvuma said that the first round kicked off with Mutonhora throwing wild jabs to intimidate the Gweru boxer, putting remarkable pressure on him but to no avail, but Libho kept his guard in pure standard style and won.
“The second and third round proved to be the breaking point for the game as Libho swiftly changed the tempo and started to attack with more vicious punches and upper cuts and the fourth round he came with full force, forcing the opponent to step back and block the fists, leading to his victory,” said Mvuma.
Muwani said this could not have been possible without the help of his sponsor Mr. Wisdom Shopera who has been paying for his gym and also his coach Bonaparte Mvuma and for their support.
His coach also commented that Muwani is a very good boxer with talent, so he should train really hard and stay away from drugs and focus on his career.
