A 17 year old Shurugwi based gospel musician Simon Chivabvu also known as Sizzla has released his first gospel album called ‘kutadza kwedu’.
Chivabvu was well-known for his talent in music from the time he was in primary school and was a popular face in the music school choirs.
The teenager finally released his 12 track album which he has been working on since last year, comprised of hit songs entitled ‘kutadza kwedu’ and ‘as we sail by, nearer to The end’, ‘misi mizinji’, ‘chipata pata mukereke’, ‘tsumo dzekutenda’, ‘when we all get to heaven’, ‘we will rejoice up there’, ’tisiye zvenyika’, ‘Mwari mukuru’ and ‘a prayer for Simon’.
Speaking to The Sun Buzz, Chivabvu said before the release of the album he faced many serious financial challenges in his venture to produce his songs since he had no promoters.
“I have produced my first album under difficult circumstances without financial support but was later assisted by my fellow colleagues from church AFM in Shurugwi. My first song was produced by Ngaavongwe records producers and was assisted by Mercy Mutsvene who was trying to back up my music. My parents did neither approve nor cheer me up on my work since I had refused to further my education after completing my “O” level ,” added Chivabvu.
He also mentioned that he was not very good academically, so he then make sure he did well in music competitions as he prepared for his career.
“The only thing that l loved about being at school was taking part as a praise and worship member as well as singing in the choir because I knew that academics was not my area,” he added
