Horror struck Mvuma when Maxwell Mpofu (24) stumbled upon the mutilated body of 14-year-old Ronald Dehwe while searching for goats in a bushy area of Village 14 Mavise.
The horrific discovery sparked outrage and fear, with police suspecting a ritual murder.
Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the discovery, revealing that Ronald’s body had eyes, ears, and private parts missing.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the discovery of the body of 14-year-old Ronald Dehwe in Mvuma by Maxwell Mpofu, aged 24 of Plot 10 Palgrave in Mvuma, who was looking for goats, discovered the body which had missing eyes, ears and private parts.”
The killing of children for ritual purposes is a disturbing reality, hence this chilling crime bears similarities to previous cases of ritual killings in Zimbabwe, where superstition and belief in magical powers drive such heinous acts.
As Mvuma demands justice for Ronald, the question remains : what drives individuals to commit such cruelity? hence Is it greed, twisted beliefs or darkness in the human heart?
Therefore, the ZRP must act swiftly to unravel the mystery behind Ronald’s death and bring perpetrators to justice.
Police appeal to anyone with information regarding Ronald’s death to report to the nearest police station.
