The Sheasham Football Club (FC) Social tournament has been abuzz with excitement despite the unpredictable weather conditions on Day 2 that forced the postponement of several games to the 21st of February 2025.

After an opening weekend, where Hardback FC defeated Partels FC 2-0, Magreez FC secured a victory over Cathed FC, and Zim Alloys FC triumphed over Tondon FC with a similar scoreline.

The Sheasham Legends also made headlines with a narrow 1-0 win against Empire FC, with N Asan earning the Man of the Match recognition for his outstanding performance.

However, as Day 2 commenced, heavy rains swept through the region, leading to challenging playing conditions.

Only a few matches were able to take place before the weather forced officials to make the difficult decision to postpone the remaining games.

Sheasham FC board Chairperson Mr. Reginald Chidawanyika addressed the situation.

“While we are disappointed by the weather’s impact on the tournament, the safety of our players and fans is our top priority.

We are committed to ensuring that the remaining matches are played in the best possible conditions.”

Despite the weather challenges, two matches did take place on Day 2, showcasing the determination of the teams involved.

In a closely contested match, Sheasham edged out Gweru Hustlers FC with a 1-0 victory, thanks to a brilliant performance from Mageja, who was named Man of the Match for his pivotal role in securing the win.

His skillful play and leadership on the field were instrumental in guiding Sheasham to victory.

In another exciting encounter, Busters FC delivered a strong performance against Bahadur FC, winning 2-0.

However, the match was tainted by a controversial moment when Makava of Busters FC received a red card, leaving his team to finish the game with ten players.

Despite the setback, Busters FC managed to maintain their composure and secure the win, further solidifying their position in the tournament.

As the tournament organizers work diligently to reschedule the postponed matches, anticipation is building for the upcoming games.

Fans are eager to see how the teams will respond after the weather-related disruptions and the atmosphere remains electric as supporters rally behind their favorites.

Mr. Chidawanyika expressed optimism for the remainder of the tournament.

“We are looking forward to the rescheduled matches on Friday.

The passion and dedication displayed by the teams and their supporters have been inspiring.

We are confident that the tournament will continue to be a celebration of football and community spirit.”

With the tournament now entering a crucial phase, all eyes will be on the teams as they prepare for the rescheduled matches.

The Sheasham Football Tournament has already proven to be a platform for showcasing local talent and fostering community engagement, and the excitement is far from over.

As teams gear up for the next round, the hope is that the weather will cooperate, allowing for a thrilling continuation of this much-anticipated event.

Sheasham FC chief executive officer Clever Mandaza emphasized on the importance of social cohesion that is being brought about by this initiative.

“Yesterday was a good day and today the tournament continues. I am happy with the huge turnout by soccer lovers, “he said.
