Sheasham Football Club (FC) and Sheasham Gweru Queens have officially confirmed their return to competitive football following a temporary withdrawal, announcing their re-entry into the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Central Region Soccer League (ZCRSL) and the Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League (ZWPSL), respectively.
The announcement was made on October 9, 2025, and comes on the heels of what the club described as “constructive engagements” with football authorities.
“This decision follows constructive engagements with various football leadership stakeholders, during which we had the opportunity to discuss our concerns,” the statement by the club’s Communications Officer Elias Maginya read.
Sheasham expressed optimism about recent efforts to resolve their grievances.
“We are encouraged by the tangible steps being taken to address the issues raised and remain committed to contributing positively to the growth of the game.”
The club also thanked its loyal supporters for their patience, saying, “Your belief in the club has been our greatest motivation, and we value the encouragement and input received throughout these discussions.”
Meanwhile, in a related development, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has launched an official investigation into Sheasham FC’s earlier withdrawal.
In a press release dated the same day, ZIFA announced the formation of an Ad Hoc Committee of Inquiry to look into the matter.
“The committee, composed of a legal practitioner, a sports administrator, and a former referee, has been tasked with probing the circumstances of the club’s withdrawal, assessing whether all internal remedies were exhausted, and reviewing the response from the ZCRSL.”
The committee is expected to submit its findings within seven working days.
Despite the pending inquiry, Sheasham has chosen to resume league play, urgng fans to rally behind the teams once more.
“We call upon our fans, partners, and community to continue rallying behind both teams,” the statement added.“
The ZIFA Secretariat has been tasked, under the guidance of the Executive Committee, to facilitate the appointment of committee members and provide the necessary administrative support to ensure the effective functioning of the Committee.
This dual development marks a critical turning point for the club as it returns to action while remaining under scrutiny from the country’s football governing body.
