Recall the ’90s with Dj Smart

By Perfect Chivima

Well known for his extremely explicit hard hitting drum instrumentals Dj Smart has reanimated new energy in the entertainment sphere with the “Honey Box” medley release.

Born Samson Mawire, the producer uses the riddim to share personal stories of strife and a modus vivendi of dancehall which he hopes bring inspiration to the society.

The Gweru based producer creates a hypnotizing concoction of dancehall with additional touches of urban sound to allow various genres to flex in his rhythm.

Dj Smart and the Smart music brand teams up with popular Gweru artists on the ‘Honey Box Medley’ video shoot.

Excite club in Gweru central business district had a full house of peers, fans and business partners to be part of the dainty project.

The Prime Media directed video features elite production alongside a set of young females led by “Thandi” a video vixen who decorated the frisky lifestyle of  dancehall culture.

Directed by Prosper, “Honey Box” medley has brand new visuals to bring the rhythmic beat and catchy riddim name to life.

The medley features Defeatah King‘s hit single “Ndirimo” as well as “Stereki” by Breezie Nukem who perfectly fit in the honey box as a prominent hip-hop artist.

The riddim boasts Magaivha, Ay Rich, Flexible, Center Mars, Tatenda, Mac gee and a wholesome arrangement of Midlands artists.

Dj Smart regains consciousness with the ’90s vibration which blends into the streets to put a name to something that had been bubbling underground for a few years.

“This project is a fusion of hardcore dancehall with an afro-vibe and a 90s taste” said Dj Smart. Smart music censored explicit lyrics to suit the age and maturity of the young dancehall artists.

Jamaican influenced production is pushing the boundaries of zimdancehall music, as well as challenging the concept of what people think ’90s dancehall’ should sound like.

The video spotlights a colorful Jamaican themed party scene among a bunch of enthusiastic dancers.

Smart music did not hesitate to give ground to expect more tempting projects especially the “Samba Samba” medley shoot.

“We have more projects set to be released after the honey box, actually we are orchestrating on the Samba Samba project” he said. #TheSun
