Unki Mine IRMA Assessment Invitation for Stakeholder Feedback
SCS Global Services (SCS) announces the commencement of a third-party independent surveillance assessment of Anglo American’s Unki Platinum Mine in pursuance of the
Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) Standard for Responsible Mining.
The Unki Mine is located in Shurugwi near Gweru, Midlands Province, Zimbabwe. SCS will carry out the on-site portion of the surveillance assessment between August 1-5, 2022.
Stakeholders (community members, workers, and other affected or interested parties) are invited to submit written comment to SCS on the environmental and social performance
of Unki Mine. In particular, comments should focus on the performance of the mine
compared with the IRMA Standard. Stakeholders may also contact SCS if they would like to be interviewed as part of the assessment process. Interviews with local stakeholders
will be scheduled to coincide with the on-site assessment and may be virtual (telephone or videoconference) or in person, taking into consideration Covid-19 precautions.
Please register as a stakeholder to be notified as more information about the assessment
becomes available. To register, submit questions or comments, or request to be interviewed as part of the assessment process log onto https://info.scsglobalservices.com/irmafeedback. Comments are kept confidential upon request.
