Proma Events Africa has announced its participation in the National Counterfeit Goods Awareness roadshows, a countrywide initiative aimed at combating the spread of counterfeit and substandard products in Zimbabwe, during a presser last Monday at King Solomon Hotel in Kwekwe.
The campaign was launched in partnership with the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe and key government ministries are set to travel across all provinces, engaging stakeholders at various levels.
Proma Events Africa Chief Executive Officer Mr. Blessing T Jeke, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in the fight against counterfeit goods.
”Proma Events Africa recognizes that the fight against counterfeit goods requires collaboration between the public and private sectors. To end that, we are inviting manufacturers, retailers, distributors, and brands to take part in the roadshows by showcasing and marketing their authentic products.”
“This only provides visibility but also helps consumers distinguish genuine brands from counterfeit imitations, thereby strengthening market confidence.”
These roadshows will be launched on the 18th of November in Harare, where they will be doing the shows for 24 days, as well as in Bulawayo, whilst 14 days each of roadshow campaigns will be done in other provinces.
These roadshows will serve as a platform to educate consumers, empower enforcement authorities, and encourage businesses to promote genuine, safe and high-quality products through exhibitions, interactive discussions, and community outreach, an initiative seeking to boost consumer confidence and foster ethical trade practices.
Proma Events Africa reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that support consumer protection, integrity in trade, and Zimbabwe’s broader economic development goals under Vision 2030.
Proma Events Africa’s involvement in the National Counterfeit Goods Awareness Roadshows underscores its dedication to protecting consumers, promoting ethical business practices, and supporting national efforts to strengthen market confidence.
As the campaign moves forward, it is expected to play a crucial role in raising awareness, fostering collaboration, and contributing to Zimbabwe’s vision of sustainable economic growth and integrity in trade.
