The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed three separate murder cases reported in the Midlands Province, with incidents reported in Gweru, Mvuma and Mberengwa.

ZRP Gweru Rural District discovered a lifeless body of a 22-year-old man lying by the roadside when they were partaking in a routine motorised patrol exercise.

Investigations later identified the deceased as Genius Zvarebwanashe (22) of Woodlands suburb.

The body was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital for a post-mortem examination and investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.

Authorities have expressed concern over the increasing use of violence to resolve disputes and urge communities to seek peaceful conflict resolution methods.

Meanwhile, in Mberengwa, a 42-year-old man, Richard Mwedzi of Chief Neshuro in Mwenezi, died while being transferred to United Bulawayo Hospital.

He had been attacked with a snooker stick following a dispute over a missing cellphone during a beer binge at Yorks Business Centre.

The alleged assailant, Nelson Mathuthu (22) of Zvinonyanya Village, fled the scene after the assault but was later apprehended by the police.

In a separate case, a 42-year-old man, Week Mudenda of Central Estates in Mvuma, died after being brutally assaulted by two brothers during a drinking session at Chibhon’ashuro Business Centre.

According to the Midlands Liaison Officer, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the altercation reportedly began as a misunderstanding and escalated into violence between Mudenda and the two brothers.

The altercation reportedly began as a misunderstanding and escalated into violence as the two suspects, Joseph Kunyai and Tawanda Daniel Kunyai of Buhera, took turns assaulting Mudenda using fists, booted feet, and a walking stick.

Mudenda was rushed to Mvuma District Hospital but succumbed to his injuries the following morning and passed.

The Kunyai brothers have been arrested and remain in police custody.
