The Midlands province is in mourning following the untimely death of Inspector Mildred Mamire, a dedicated and energetic police officer who passed away on August 19, 2025, after a short illness.
National Police Spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said her passing away has left a deep void in the police force and the community she served with unwavering commitment.
“Inspector Mamire is remembered as a committed officer at the peak of her career, leaving behind a husband and three children. She was born on November 19, 1981, in Nyama Village, Chief Nhema, Shurugwi, in Midlands Province, in a family of four,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
Mamire began her education at Railway Block Primary School and continued her secondary studies at Shurugwi Number 2 Secondary School.
Speaking to this reporter, the ZRP Commissioner Paul Nyathi described her as an ambitious and passionate professional who served with integrity and purpose.
The late Inspector Mamire was a very ambitious woman who was dedicated and professional.
Her loss is felt deeply across the police force and within her community.
Both of her parents are also late, adding to the profound sorrow experienced by her family and loved ones.
A memorial gathering was held in Gweru as family, friends and colleagues came together to celebrate the life and legacy of a woman who served with honor and devotion.
Her upbringing was marked by humility and a strong sense of discipline, which shaped the values she carried into her professional life.
Beyond her career, Inspector Mamire was a devoted wife and mother.
Mourners gathered in Gweru to pay tribute to a life cut short too soon but lived with purpose.
Her legacy as a law enforcer, mother, and community member will be remembered.
As the community continues to mourn, Inspector Mamire Mildred will be remembered not only for her professionalism and dedication to duty but also for the compassion and strength she brought to her work.
Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the example she set for future generations of officers. May Her Soul Rest in Peace.
