
Owen Masimba Appointed GCC Chamber Secretary
The City of Gweru has announced the appointment of Mr. Owen Masimba as the Substantive Chamber Secretary with effect from 3 October 2025.
Mayor Councillor M. Chivhoko said in a statement that Mr. Masimba joins the executive management team of Council at a critical time in the City’s transformation journey, bringing with him over 22 years of sectoral experience in the local government sector.
“His appointment reflects Council’s commitment to strengthening governance, strategy, and service delivery for the benefit of residents, stakeholders, and partners.
“He is a seasoned professional whose competencies cut across law, finance, strategy, corporate governance, and administration, making him well-suited to provide holistic advisory services to Council and to support the implementation of Council’s strategic plan,” said the Mayor..

Mr. Masimba’s appointment is expected to further strengthen the City of Gweru’s governance systems, enhance compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks, and improve service delivery
to the community.
