The Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Dr Tatenda Mavetera, officially commissioned the NetOne 4G Base Station and launched the Digitalize Zimbabwe Roving ICT Expo in Msala, Gokwe.

This development is set to transform the lives of residents, students, farmers, and entrepreneurs in the area digitally.
However, the new base station will provide much-needed network coverage, enabling access to essential services like e-learning, markets, telemedicine and customers, aligning with the government’s efforts to bridge the digital divide and promote inclusivity in the digital economy.
The event showcased the impact of these initiatives, with examples of how they are transforming lives, “A cotton farmer in Msala can now check commodity prices before selling, a student at Nyamuroro High can access global research material, a clinic nurse can consult with a doctor hundreds of kilometers away and a youth with coding skills can develop an app and sell it worldwide, ” Hon Mavetera clarified.
The Minister emphasised the importance of inclusivity and connectivity to everyone, no matter their location.
“This is more than an event; it is a vision being brought to life that every Zimbabwean, regardless of their location, must be part of the digital economy. We came to unveil connectivity running under the program Digitalize Zimbabwe Roving Expo,” she said, emphasizing the importance of working together to build a digital economy.
Hon Mavetera strengthens the issue of the digital economy through a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, which says, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
“During the commissioning ceremony, Hon Mavetera also launched the Digitalize Zimbabwe Roving ICT Expo, an initiative aimed at taking demonstrations, exhibitions, and training to both rural and urban areas. The expo will focus on promoting digital literacy, online safety, and entrepreneurship in the digital age,” she said.
“President Mnangagwa’s vision of ‘No one and no place must be left behind’ in the journey towards Vision 2030 is being realized through these initiatives, hence the importance of inclusivity and connectivity in achieving this vision,” she added.
