A 26-year-old woman died after being stabbed in the neck with a sharp object while intervening in a misunderstanding involving her friend and a male fellow beer-drinking patron.
The incident occurred at Flames Cocktail Bar, Mkoba 10 Business Centre in Gweru on 08 November 2025 at about 2200 hours.
The now deceased Haifa Chiyangwa was drinking beer at the cocktail bar in the company of some friends when the incident allegedly happened.
After the attack, she sustained a deep cut on the neck and bled profusely.
A well-wisher carried her to Gweru Provincial Hospital, where she passed away soon after admission.
Preliminary investigations by the Police led to the arrest of a male suspect, Chitifa Patson of Mkoba 10 in Gweru.
He is in Police custody as the investigation to gather prosecution evidence continues.
He is expected to appear in court facing the murder charge and we appeal to anyone with information linked to the case, please come forward and help us.
The case serves as a poignant reminder of the need for people to be responsible and seek peaceful means to resolve differences.
Meanwhile, a 42 year old man lost cash amounting to US$420 and identification particulars when three men pounced on him after his vehicle broke down in Wildbeast farm, Gweru on 3 November 2025 at about 2300 hours.
The motor vehicle, a Mazda B1600 had broken down in the farm.
The driver tried to fix the problem but he was not successful and decided to sleep in the car.
At around 2300 hours, three men approached and opened the passenger door which was not locked.
They pulled the driver out of the car and started beating him with a wooden stick while the other one searched the vehicle.
They took cash US$420, national Identity particulars and bank cards before they fled into the darkness.
We are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
