Just In… A notorious 81 year-old thief who is suspected to have been terrorizing council workers for months stealing various items at Town House in Gweru was this afternoon arrested after stealing a laptop from the Human resources manager’s office, The Sun can exclusively reveal.
Shingirai Mugabe of Mtapa township entered the Town House during lunchtime pretending to be looking for old and used printer cartridges. He noticed the Human Resources manager Mr Japson Nemuseso leaving his office to another office, Mugabe quickly entered the office and grabbed an HP laptop which was on a desk before leaving unnoticed.
A few minutes later, the manager returned to his office to find his laptop with all council confidential information missing.
“He rushed out of the office looking for the suspect and noticed Mugabe walking away with a laptop bag. The suspect was searched and the laptop was recovered,” said a source who witnessed the incident.
Mugabe is currently detained at Gweru Central Police Station.
For the past few months, cases of theft of goods at the Town House were on the increase despite the heavy presence of Municipal police, and calls for the local authority to install CCTV cameras were growing louder. #The Sun
