MTC scores big with inter-ministerial sports festival

The highly anticipated inter-ministerial sports festival recently took place at Mkoba Teachers College (MTC), culminating in a spectacular opening and closing ceremony graced by the Minister of Public Service Labour and Social Welfare, Honourable July Moyo.

The inter-ministerial sports festival drew enthusiastic participation from 31 government ministries, departments and agencies.

The final tag of war teams performed their last battle and showcased their talents.

Both teams from the ladies were given gold and silver medals for reaching finals and the same was done for the gentleman teams.

It also gave the Minister as his team won the gold medal in the tug-of-war battle.
Honourable Moyo delivered a powerful speech emphasizing the importance of wellness for all, inspiring the participants and attendees alike.

He highlighted the role of sports in promoting teamwork, discipline, and healthy lifestyles.

“It is more than just a festival it is a vibrant celebration of life, health, tradition and progress and I must say when I saw the teams that were coming forward l looked at the last time that l was in their age and l saw that we have 20, 30 years of you coming together having to have cemented your relationships because of these games here in the Midlands.” remarked Honorable Moyo.

“As the Minister of Public Service Labour and Social Welfare and particularly as Minister responsible for the Public sector I am honored to underscore our government’s unwavering dedication to prioritizing the well-being of our civil service across all ministries and indeed our whole public sector,” said Honourable Moyo.

In a major boost to the inter-ministerial sports festival, the Minister commissioned the state-of-the-art multipurpose sports facility, bolstering Mkoba Teachers College’s reputation as a hub for sports excellence.

This cutting-edge infrastructure will cater to various sports disciplines, including netball, volleyball, tennis and more. Mkoba Teachers College Principal, Mrs. Mavunga, expressed gratitude for the Minister’s unwavering support for sports development.

“This facility is a testament to the government’s commitment to nurturing talented athletes and promoting sports excellence,” said Mrs. Mavunga
