Midlands mourns Shiri

The Late Agriculture minister, Perrence Shiri

Midlands provincial affairs minister, Larry Mavima has expressed shock at the death of Agriculture minister, Perrence Shiri saying the nation has lost a dedicated and loyal son of the soil.

Shiri was quarantined for Covid-19 on Tuesday and succumbed to the novel virus early Wednesday.

“This morning (Wednesday) we woke up to a dark cloud covering our beautiful nation of Zimbabwe with shocking news on the untimely death of Senator Perrence Shiri who was Agriculture minister,”Mavima said.

“Cde Shiri was a dedicated and loyal hard working son of the soil whose exploits as a young person will always be remembered and well documented in the history of our free Zimbabwe.”

Mavima described Shiri as a calm person respected by many in the country.

“He was a cool, collected and calm clear thinker who was well respected and loved by many,”he said.

“The Midlands province in particular and my family wish the Shiri family all the strength and comfort as they mourn a strong pillar in the family.”

He said Shiri would be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
