Mckingtorch champions clean communities with bin donations

Blessing Nduku

In a bold step towards promoting environmental responsibility, Mcakingtorch Zimbabwe has donated a set of waste segregation bins to Mkoba Polyclinic, aiming to encourage proper waste management and recycling practices within the local community.

The donation features a three-bin system, red, green and black, which were specifically designed to simplify waste separation at source, making recycling more accessible and impactful.

Speaking to this reporter, Charlene Muguti explained the motivation behind the designs of the waste bins.

“The inspiration behind these segregation bins is rooted in our mission as Mckingtorch Zimbabwe to transform waste into practical solutions for a cleaner environment. We wanted to create bins that only serve a functional purpose but also inspire communities to practice proper waste separation and recycling.”

She added that each bin symbolizes a step toward a cleaner, greener future and also promotes public participation in reducing pollution and advancing circular economy practices.

“Each bin represents a step towards a cleaner, greener future, encouraging communities to separate waste at source and making recycling easier and more impactful. The three bin system (red, green and black) is designed to promote interaction and awareness.”

“By using them, the community participates directly in reducing pollution, protects our environment and supports circular economy practices. Every piece of waste disposed of correctly is a contribution to sustainability.”

Muguti went on to express their gratitude as Mckingtorch to ZimLion Engineering Gweru for partnering with them and creating the bins.

“We are deeply grateful to ZimLion Engineering Gweru for turning this vision into reality through their craftsmanship and support. This partnership shows collaboration can drive innovation and bring sustainable change to one’s city or even beyond.”
