Midlands Christian College (MCC) in collaboration with Midlands Christian College Parents Assembly Committee will be hosting a multi-faceted fundraising event to raise funds for the school gym this Saturday at Gweru Golf Club.
The fundraising event is open to everyone including golfers, off road riders as well as the community at large.
Director for MCC’s Marketing, Sports and Functions, Charmaine Deysel said the event is aimed at raising funds for heavy duty gym equipment for the school.
“This is a fundraising event that is focused on raising funds for heavy duty gym equipment which pupils can make use of. For the pupils to be competitive on the national front, there is need for pupils to work specifically on strength and conditioning so an onsite gym will allow for this and will give valuable opportunity to those who are already in national teams,” said Deysel.
“The community is invited to take part in the various activities which include a 5km fun-run/walk for the more casual participants, or a 10km or 21km run for the more serious athletes. For those who like to ride, there is a 50km off road ride. With activities for the kids, including pony rides, racing car rides, jumping castles and water slides as well as items to buy at the various stalls which will be in place,” added Deysel.
Local companies have shown interest by entering their own teams and donating prizes towards the event.
Deysel added that, “the Golf competition if for both the avid and casual golfer with a number of local companies showing support by entering teams and donating prizes towards the event”.
The local community is urged to support the event in numbers by participating.
