A 46 year old Mberengwa man was allegedly murdered by a fellow villager with an unknown object after a misunderstanding over the closure of the beerhall.
It is believed that around 2140 hours, the suspect Lameck Zhou and the now deceased Tofara Zhou who are unrelated, while drinking beer at bar, a misunderstanding arose over the closure of the bar.
A bar lady, identified as Theresa advised patrons that she wanted to close the bar when Lameck refused to leave the bar which prompted Tofara to intervene in the matter.
This subsequently led to the exchange of harsh words between Tofara and Lameck who took the fight to a disused building nearby.
It is alleged that, whilst in the building, the suspect Lameck used an unknown object to assault Tofara who later came out and collapsed meters away from the building.
Tofara’s younger brother is said to have rushed to the disused building where he found his brother lying unconscious.He called for help and was assisted by a good samaritan who had a vehicle that ferried the now deceased ‘Tofara’ at Chaza clinic.
Upon arrival at the clinic the nurse on duty pronounced Tofara dead.
The matter was reported to Mberengwa Police Station, who attended to the scene.
The suspect who ran away after committing the offence, later surrender himself to the police and will appear in court soon.
