Man 38 stabbed to death in Shurugwi

A Shurugwi man, Bright Miti (38) was stabbed by one of the three strangers at Railway Block with a columbian knife after refusing to buy alcohol for them on 13 February 2025.

According to the statement by Midlands Police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko circumstances were that the now deceased Bright Miti and his friend encountered three strangers who demanded for alcohol and disputes arose after refusal to buy alcohol.

“It is alleged that, the now deceased Bright Miti was walking from Bonza mine in the company of a friend Tapfuma Ncube, a man aged 35 to Railway Block, Shurugwi.

They met three man who asked them to buy drinks. The two refused and altercation arose.
“ One of the three strangers went on to stab Miti with a columbian knife once behind his left knee whilist Tapfuma managed to free himself and escaped.”

Miti was rushed to the Shurugwi Police Station and a statement was made in route to the Shurugwi District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on his arrival.

Meanwhile, three men were arrested in connection with an attempted murder of a married couple in Gokwe on 12 February 2025 at around 2300 hours.

According to Inspector Mahoko, Chemusonde men threatened to burn Agreement Sibanda’s house down if he had refused to come out of his house.

“Moven Chemusonde (24), Malvin Chemusonde (19) and Misheba Chemusonde (18) allegedly teemed up on their neighbour Agreement Sibanda (59) who stays with his wife Sarah Hlanganiso ordering Sibanda to come out of his house and threatening to burn his house if he refused. “

Sibanda was brutally beaten by the three neighbours all over his body with a log and his wife became hopeless after trying to help her husband and escaped for her dear life.
Mahoko went on to say that Sibanda came out and the three started beating them with logs all over the body.

“Sibanda was beaten until he became unconscious and he was left lying on the ground. Police attended the scene, took the victims to Gokwe South District Hospital where Sibanda was admitted in a serious condition. The three Chemusonde men were arrested and are assisting Police with investigations. “

The ZRP urges people to solve their disputes amicably and avoid the use of violence to solve disputes.
