On the 30th of January three men travelling to Harare were left in agape when a machete gang assaulted and robbed them along Harare – Bulawayo road.
The two natives and a foreigner travelling to Harare were stripped off their cash and valuables by an unknown notorious gang of three.
Timothy Ndiriza (22), Roy Boikanyo (32) and the Toyota Hiace driver Vaine Mashura (29) of Kuwadzana phase 2 Harare were on board unknowingly of horror creeping in the journey.
Midlands Provincial Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko told the press the incident occured around 2300hours in Kwekwe.
“Upon reaching the 210km peg near Truckers Inn, Kwekwe. Mashura discovered that the motor vehicle was overheating. He pulled off the road, switched off the engine and opened the bonnet for the engine to cool down” said Inspector Mahoko.
He mentioned that a threefold group armed with machetes approached Mashura.
In a hasty manner the machete gang dragged the occupants out of the vehicle, assaulting them with machetes and demanding valuables.
“They robbed three victims cash USD$80.00, 400 pula, Nokia cellphone, Roy Boikanyo’s passport, two brown wallets with bank cards and two drivers licenses. After committing the offence, the suspects vanished into the darkness” Inspector Mahoko continued “We are appealing to the public to assist with information concerning the culprits to report at the nearest police station”
The gang intentions were focused on robbing rather than murder, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is still investigating on the hide outs of the notorious three. #TheSun
