Let’s Make A Difference Disability Zimbabwe recently celebrated its 8th anniversary by engaging in generous activities aimed at empowering individuals with disabilities in the community.
Founded on March 25, 2015, the organization marked this significant milestone by providing meals to people with disabilities living on the streets, reinforcing its commitment to inclusion and social support.
This initiative brought relief and a sense of belonging to beneficiaries who often face daily hardships and marginalization.
As part of the celebrations, the organization also extended support to a visually impaired couple by donating a care hamper.
The couple, recognized for their resilience and positive contributions to society, received this gesture as a symbol of encouragement and appreciation.
This donation highlighted the organization’s focus not only on assisting but also on recognizing the efforts of individuals with disabilities who are making a difference in their communities.
Nigel Tahwa, the founder of Let’s Make A Difference Disability Zimbabwe, stated that the anniversary was a time to reflect on the journey and impact made over the past eight years.
He emphasized that the organization remains dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through practical support and advocacy.
“Our mission has always been to restore dignity and create opportunities for people with disabilities. Celebrating this milestone by giving back to the community serves as a reminder of why we started,” he said.
Tahwa added that the celebrations are ongoing, with plans to host a braai outing this Sunday for children and youth with disabilities.
The event is expected to provide a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere where young people can interact, share experiences, and form friendships.
He also appealed to well-wishers, corporates, and members of the public to support the initiative through donations, whether in cash or kind. Contributions, he said, would significantly aid in ensuring the success of the event and in sustaining the organization’s programs.
Over the years, Let’s Make A Difference Disability Zimbabwe has played a vital role in advocating for the rights and welfare of people with disabilities while also implementing community-based interventions that promote inclusivity.
As the organization looks to the future, its leadership remains committed to expanding its reach and continuing to make a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable groups across Zimbabwe.
