A devastating incident that has shaken the Mbizo community in Kwekwe, a 25-year-old man, identified as Talent Runi found dead at his house.
The grim incident occurred on April 18, around noon, and has left the local community in shock. The Midlands Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer, Assistant Inspector Ngawagare Fungai, confirmed that Runi was discovered by his cousin, 23-year-old Tinotenda Tsvangira, who received a concerning call from their aunt in Harare. The aunt informed Tsvangira that Runi had threatened to take his own life.
Concerned for his cousin’s safety, Tsvangira hurried home, where he found all doors locked from the inside. He managed to gain entry through an open window.
Upon entering the room, Tsvangira found Runi lying deceased on the bed. The scene revealed a horrific sight: blood-stained teeth scattered across the floor, alongside used and unused explosives, igniting cords, and a box of matches.
Inspector Ngawagare confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Runi’s death.
Assistance Inspector Ngawagare, stated that the police are working diligently to gather more information and piece together the events leading up to this tragedy.
Community members are urged to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
The police have also emphasized the importance of mental health awareness and support, especially in light of such distressing incidents.
Runi’s untimely death has highlighted the urgent need for mental health resources and support systems within the community, as friends and family grapple with the loss of a young life.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has issued a stern warning to individuals and groups identified as instigators, inciters, and ringleaders of criminal elements planning to unleash violence in the country.
The police have specifically named Jacob Ngarivhume and Amos Chibaya suspects who will face the full force of law if they proceed with their plans.
According to the ZRP, these individuals intend to engage in malicious activities such as burning tires and destroying buildings, which will not be tolerated.
The police and other security agencies are on high alert and have vowed to deal decisively with anyone who attempts to disturb the peaceful environment in Zimbabwe.
The public has been urged to report any criminal activities or instance of incitement to violence, threats, or intimidation to the National Complaints Desk. The ZRP emphasizes that the law will be applied without fear or favor, and those found guilty will face the consequences.
