Highlanders Football Club Chief Executive Officer, Brian Moyo, has resigned from his position just four months into his tenure.
The resignation comes after an internal inquiry was launched by the club to investigate allegations of fraud.
According to sources close to the club, Moyo’s resignation was tendered on Tuesday, following a meeting with the club’s executive committee.
The internal inquiry was launched after allegations of inflating sign on fees for two players recently signed from Bulawayo chiefs, prompting the club’s leadership to take swift action.
In an official statement, Highlanders FC Chairperson, Kenneth Mhlope, confirmed Moyo’s resignation and addressed the allegations.
“Following the launch of an internal inquiry into allegations of fraud and financial impropriety, Brian Moyo has resigned as Chief Executive Officer of Highlanders Football Club, effective immediately.
