A 19 year old adult, Mary Moyo (name modified by editorial guidelines) of Chirumanzu with two sexual organs appeared at Gweru Regional court where she-he was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment for raping a minor ( 7).
According to Section 66 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23, Mary Moyo was charged with aggravated indecent assault.
Mary Moyo of Munetsi village under Chief Chirumanzu, unlawfully and intentionally with indecent intent her ‘enlarged clitoris’ into the minor’s anus.
Before the incident, the victim was walking from Mutya Primary School where she learns with her schoolmate, proceeding home.
They encountered Moyo, who was gathering firewood in a bush on the river banks of a dry stream in Munetsi village at around 1500 hours.
Neither the convict and the victim is related.
Moyo walked for a distance of approximately 500 metres with the two juveniles and grabbed the minor’s hand.
The she-he tricked the juvenile into playing a game and scolded the schoolmate to go home.
The convict took the victim to a secluded place where she raped her.
When the minor arrived home, she told her aunt, Lydia Taruvinga, that she was sexually abused by a male person wearing a skirt.
Both the accused and the victim were taken to St Theresa’s Hospital for medical examinations after investigations were undertaken by the ZRP.
The matter was handled by Magistrate Christopher Maturure and Provincial Prosecutor M. Mungwena as the accused begged for lenience in court.
“l was testing whether l have two organs,” says the Moyo during the court session.
Hermaphrodite is a term referring to individuals with intersex variations.
