Hardrock FC achieves historic promotion to premier league

WESLEY MUROVE

In a thrilling climax to the season, Hardrock Football Club (FC) secured first place in the Premier League after a decisive 2-0 victory over MSU last week.

This achievement marks Hardrock FC as the first team to be promoted to Division 1 and subsequently win the Central Region league, setting a new precedent in local football.

Benedict Sithole opened the scoring sheet in the seventh minute before veteran player Donald Ngoma’s 42nd strike that sealed the victory for the Kwekwe-based outfit.

Vice Chairman Samuel Mataka expressed his excitement and gratitude to sponsors and supporters for their faith in them in a press conference.

“We are thrilled with this accomplishment and would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire team for their hard work, perseverance, and dedication. This success is a testament to our striving for excellence.”

“We also want to thank our sponsors, supporters, and the journalists who have diligently covered every match, contributing to our journey.”

With a total of 86 points, Hardrock FC’s consistent performance throughout the season has drawn significant attention.

Club owner Shepard Magodora shared his enthusiasm.

“I am excited about our achievement, and I vow to bring the Premier League trophy to the Midlands.”

As Hardrock FC prepares for the next chapter, they are eager to compete in the Premier Soccer League, displaying a commendable spirit of ambition and readiness.

The team will conclude their Central Region matches this Saturday against Sheasham FC at Bata Stadium, where fans are expected to gather to celebrate the team’s achievement and support them in their final regional clash.

The rise of Hardrock FC is not only a victory for the club but also a significant moment for Midlands football, showcasing the dedication and potential present in the league.

Hard Rock became the third team to be promoted to the elite league after FC Hunters and Bulawayo Chiefs were confirmed Eastern Region and Northern Region champions, respectively.

As they step into the Premier League, all eyes will be on Hardrock FC to see how they rise to the challenge on a bigger stage.
