GCC acquires more service delivery trucks

City of Gweru has announced the acquisition of two new service delivery trucks, which are expected to boost the much-needed services in the city.

Gweru City Council Acting Town Clerk, Livingstone Churu, told The Sun that the council purchased an 8-tonne truck and a skip truck to augment its existing fleet, with a focus on waste management and road maintenance.

The vehicles were acquired using internally generated funds at a total cost of about USD 200,000.

He noted that the move aligns with Statutory Instrument 170 of 2019, which sets minimum service delivery standards for local authorities.

“We are fully focused and committed to a better Gweru where service delivery standards are fully met as enunciated in the S.I. 170 of 2025 (Minimum Service Delivery Standards), A call to action, no Compromise to Service Delivery and NDS 2,” said Churu.

He emphasized that Gweru aims not only to meet these minimum standards but to surpass them for the benefit of residents.
