FC de Tondon donates to Jairos Jiri

By Kelvin Kasiwulaya

Gweru’s only community soccer team, FC de Tondon has donated clothes to Jairos Jiri Naran Centre as part of its effort to remember the underprivileged members of society.
The donation was sourced from members of the Mkoba community through a campaign, championed by radio personality, Uncle Black (98.4FM).

Handing over the donation, FC de Tondon member, Boss Gulam, said the donation was a community initiative meant to assist members of the society and the needy.

“We are a community soccer team, though not registered, we took it upon ourselves to transform our community through sport, most of the donations you see here were donated by members of the Mkoba community who watch our soccer matches,” he said.

“As FC de Tondon, we know the struggles of the community, and that’s why we have taken this initiative to assist Naran Centre. However, we will not stop here, we will assist other organizations and centres that require our help,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of all FC de Tondon supporters, Mistugan Soldier (born Hillary Gara) applauded the Mkoba community for making the Jairos Jiri donation possible.

“We applaud all the FC de Tondon supporters for their unwavering efforts to make sure that this day became a success. This is the beginning we hope to continue the good works with the help of the community and the whole of Gweru, he said.

Uncle Black also thanked all the radio listeners who took heed of his call for donations toward Jairos Jiri Naran School.
