The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Zimbabwe, led by Innocent Ndibali has issued a strong condemnation of the deadly post-election violence in Tanzania which has reportedly claimed the lives of more than 700 people.
In a statement released this week, Ndibali described the loss of life as “a tragic and unacceptable consequence of political intolerance and disregard for human rights.”
The EFF Zimbabwe called for those responsible for the violence to be held accountable, urging both local and international authorities to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
“We call for those implicated in the violence to be held accountable and for the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate these matters further.
The Tanzanian leadership must provide a thorough explanation of the events that led to this national tragedy,” said Ndibali.
The party emphasized that transparency, justice, and accountability are key to restoring public trust and preventing future atrocities.
EFF Zimbabwe also urged the international community to take an active stance by supporting an independent investigation into the events surrounding the election-related unrest.
Ndibali reiterated his party’s solidarity with the people of Tanzania, emphasizing the need for regional unity in promoting democracy and human rights across Africa.
“Accountability and adherence to human rights standards are crucial,” he said.
“We stand in solidarity with the people of Tanzania and echo the call for justice.
Such incidents must never happen again in Africa.”
EFF Zimbabwe’s statement comes amid growing calls from civil society groups and regional organizations for greater scrutiny of post-election processes in Africa, where disputes over results often escalate into violence.
As Tanzania grapples with the aftermath of the bloodshed, EFF Zimbabwe’s call adds to the mounting pressure on authorities to uphold transparency and justice—and to ensure that the voices of the people are respected in the democratic process.
