Eco bank launches new branch in Gweru

A leading pan-African banking group Ecobank Zimbabwe Limited a subsidiary of Eco bank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) officially opened another branch in Gweru.

Speaking during the official opening of the branch Ecobank board member Promise Ncube said the bank had come to elevate gender-based financial benefit.

“Ecobank has also implemented programs to empower women to come that is if you want to open businesses, or get loans, we give you zero bank charges considering the kind of project and business which one proposes to do, as we also get to monitor them, we understand women require financial upliftment and empowerment.”

“We are giving opportunities to elevate gender based financial benefit that is to a business that is fully owned by women, which are managed by women, companies which are manufacturing products for women as well as 20 % of the board members are women.

Our presence now means supporting women, it means giving financial advice and solutions to business and residents including women. Our branch Manager Trevor Jiri will be glad to assist you.”

Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs and Devolution Owen Mudha Ncube officially opened the Gweru branch. Mudha said that the opening of this branch is a major milestone because it shows the movement of the second republic vision.

“The coming in of Ecobank is a major milestone that we applaud as a city and as a government because we are moving with the second republic’s mantra of vision 2030. We are happy, as we embrace yet another achievement in attracting investment in the financial sector. Financial inclusivity is a key enabler in unlocking economic development.”

ETI is headquartered in Lome, Togo which is the leading private pan-African banking group founded in 1985 in the Ecowas Region that is the Eco in Eco bank.

ETI is currently the largest bank across Africa by footprint operating in over 33 countries in Africa.

ETI entered the Zimbabwe market in 2011 wherein they acquired Eco bank Zimbabwe Limited which had commenced its operations as Premier Finance Group in 2002 as a merchant bank.
