Leading beverages manufacturer Delta Corporation has reaffirmed its commitment to Zimbabwe’s human capital development after hosting its 2026 bursary induction programme, where 100 students from underprivileged backgrounds were officially welcomed into the scheme.
The induction ceremony, held at the Mandel Training Centre in Harare, ran under the theme “Educating Today’s Learners, Powering Zimbabwe’s Future,” highlighting the company’s long standing focus on education as a driver of national development.
Speaking at the event, Delta’s General Manager for Corporate Affairs and spokesperson, Patricia Murambinda said the initiative is designed to break financial barriers that often hinder academically gifted learners.
“Delta remains committed to supporting Zimbabwe’s national development agenda by investing in education and skills.“
“Through this bursary programme, we are helping to protect learners’ potential from financial constraints while strengthening the country’s future workforce.”
The bursary scheme supports students from Advanced Level through to university, targeting high performing learners from disadvantaged communities across all provinces.
Beneficiaries are selected in collaboration with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to ensure fairness and national reach.
Delta’s education assistance programme has been running for more than two decades, with the company investing nearly US$100,000 annually in school bursaries.
To date, over 1,300 students have benefited, representing a cumulative investment of approximately US$2.1 million.
Beyond financial assistance, the programme forms part of a broader ecosystem of social investment and skills development initiatives spearheaded by the company.
These include infrastructure development in underserved schools, such as the construction of classroom blocks as well as professional training programmes.
Among the key initiatives is the Mandel Training Centre, which focuses on management development, alongside the Delta Technical Institute (DTI), where artisans are trained in various trades.
The company also runs a Driver Training School specialising in heavy motor vehicle operation and a Graduate Development Programme aimed at nurturing early career professionals.
Collectively, these efforts have contributed to the development of skilled professionals across multiple sectors, including medicine, engineering and finance.
Murambinda urged the new bursary recipients to take full advantage of the opportunity and remain committed to academic excellence.
“This support comes with responsibility. We encourage beneficiaries to pursue excellence and ultimately contribute meaningfully to their communities and Zimbabwe’s development.”
As one of Zimbabwe’s largest corporate players, Delta Corporation continues to leverage its resources and nationwide footprint to invest in education and community development, positioning itself as a key partner in building a skilled and resilient workforce for the future.
