Chinhara blesses Kushinga high school with donations

Harare business tycoon Mr Aaron Chinhara, heeding the call to invest in education, pledged to assist in constructing a computer laboratory and purchasing USD5000 worth of textbooks for the next three years for Kushinga High School in rural Shurugwi.

Mr Chinhara who is the Founder, CEO of Glow Petroleum and executive chairman of House of Chinhara was the guest of honour at the school’s prize-giving ceremony.

He believes he must contribute to national obligations such as “better education for all and improvement of opportunities for the less privileged.

Mr. Chinhara, a former teacher, encouraged learners to work hard to succeed in life as he relates to these rural children as his background was similar.

He spoke of his journey from being a teacher in Gokwe back in the day up until he got a breakthrough to become a successful businessman, employing thousands of people across the country.

The businessman emphasized hard work, diligence, honesty, and above all trusting in God.
During the ceremony, he donated several gifts to compliment the already-sourced presents that were given to learners who excelled.

Other donations included monetary tokens to each top best learner, the drum majorettes club for a good display, a scholarship was offered to a student, Anotida Murahwa upon identifying her leadership talent after reciting a poem and offered scholarships to students who will pass their Zimsec “O” level with 5As and above, as well as the pledge to help the school with the construction of the much-needed computer lab.

Through his company, he will help the school with buying textbooks for the next three years, which are a crucial tool in the teaching and learning process.

A donation of 1000 trees to be planted as a symbol of giving back life to the environment and also for generations to come as a way of celebrating Chinhara’s birthday.

Teachers at Kushinga High School were all smiles when they were given USD$100 each as a token of appreciation for their effort and dedication to their work amidst the challenging economy of the country.

The Head of the school Mr Allen Mutazu congratulated the learners who managed to excel in both academic and sports disciplines.

He also commended all the hard work done by the teachers and the learners for them to be able to reach a standard.

However,Mr Mutazu acknowledged the lower pass rate at the school, he called upon all learners, teachers, and parents to come together and work towards achieving a better pass rate this year.

He thanked the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education for giving the school adequate teachers making sure that no learning area is left behind.

The resumption of speech and prize-giving ceremonies that had ceased in schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic gave the satisfaction of appreciation for the school community’s hard work, including parents who play a vital role in paying fees for their children to learn.

Kushinga High School, located in the Shamba area of the Chikato cluster in Shurugwi was also graced with the presence of the District Schools Inspector(DSI), Smally Makwati.

On addressing the gathering the DSI encouraged the learners to keep on working hard especially in the exam class so as to obtain better results and uplift the pass rate of the school which is currently below the expected standard.“She also encouraged parents to keep on supporting the school by paying fees for the smooth running if the school.
