Lower Gweru has been left with deep sadness and heavy hearts following the passing of Chief Sogwala.
The family spokesperson Bhekimpilo Moyo Hlabano confirmed his passing.
“He died peacefully at home,shortly after 1 am.”
On 10 November 1981, the late Chief Sogwala was appointed into his chieftainship making him the longest-serving Chief in Midlands province.
He was a towering figure in Midlands Traditional circles known for his wisdom, calm presence and dedication to preserving cultural values“Gweru District Development Coordinator, Tarisai Mudadigwa has expressed his deepest condolences to the Chief’s family.
“ We have lost a dedicated chief and a resource person for our culture. We send condolences to the Chief’s family and the lower Gweru community.”
Mourners are gathered at the late chief’s homestead in Sogwala, Lower Gweru and the burial details are to follow.
