A 28-YEAR-OLD man from Shurugwi has been arrested for stabbing his girlfriend multiple times following a dispute over alleged infidelity.
The stabbed woman is fighting for her life in hospital in a case that occurred on 6 July 2024 at about 2200 hours, at Mambowa Business Centre in Shurugwi.
Midlands Liaison Officer Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the circumstances were that Cleopas Nyakareta returned home from work and could not find his girlfriend at home.
He went out looking for her and found her drinking beer at the shopping center with an unknown man.
“Allegations are that Cleopas Nyakareta of Sebanga Park Shurugwi returned home from Wanderer Mine where he works as an artisanal miner and did not find his girlfriend whom he stays with.”
“He later on located her at Mambowa Business Center, drinking beer with an unknown male adult whom she claimed to be her new boyfriend, this did not go down well with the suspect resulting in a misunderstanding between them which led to the suspect being struck on the head by an empty beer bottle.”
Mahoko said that the matter was reported to the police and the suspect came home around 2200 hours that same night. The complainant also came home drunk and had another misunderstanding with the suspect leading to him, striking a bottle on her head.
” She fell bleeding profusely, and went further to take a broken beer bottle pieces to assault her several times on the head and the matter was reported to the police resulting in the suspect’s arrest.”
The police are appealing to the members of the public to solve disputes in a peaceful way.
Meanwhile, two escaped death by a whisker in a serious road accident after their vehicles collided along Gokwe-Silobela road in Kwekwe on 7 July 2024 around 1600 hours.
Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the circumstances that occurred were that Busani Ncube was driving towards Silobela whilst Bongani Gwesela upon reaching the 28 km peg turned right leading to their vehicles colliding.
“Busani Ncube (44) of Silobela was driving a Ford Drifter motor vehicle towards Silobela. At the same time, Bongani Gwesela (44) of Zhombe was driving a Honda Fit motor vehicle, both with no passengers in their vehicles”.
“Upon reaching the 28km peg, Gwesela turned right, and the vehicles collided.
Both parties sustained injuries but are in stable condition”.
The matter was reported to the police who attended the scene and ferried the injured to the hospital.
“We urge motorists to be vigilant on the roads to avoid such avoidable incidences,” Mahoko said.
