A brutal murder case has shaken the small rural town of Mberengwa, leaving residents in shock and police scrambling to apprehend the suspect.
According to the Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, 35-year-old Freeman Pazamongo was stabbed to death at Rengwe Business Centre on the 26th of January 2025.
Circumstances are that Pazamongo was in the company of his two friends and it started to rain as they were about to go home.
As a result, they sought shelter at Rengwe business center shop verandas.
Pazamongo stood about 7 meters away from the others and after about 10 minutes he was heard screaming and calling for help.
Eyewitnesses report that upon reaching where Pazamongo was his friends found him lying on the ground, bleeding profusely from a deep stab wound to the chest.
Pazamongo was rushed to Mnere Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Investigations have revealed that Pazamongo has an alternation with 24-year-old Ferdinand Dzimba of Mapenzi Village under Chief Maziofa, who is now being sought by the police in connection with the murder.
“We urge anyone with information about Dzimba’s whereabouts to come forward and assist us in bringing him to justice,” said Inspector Mahoko.
The community is reeling from the shock of the murder, with many calling for an end to violence and a renewed commitment to valuing human life.
Inspector Mahoko stated that the police are continuing their investigation and appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of Dzimba.
