Gweru City Council’s director of engineering services Robson Manatsa has tendered his resignation letter to the local authority, with several other senior employees also indicating their willingness to leave for greener pastures.
Gweru City Council public relations and communications officer Ms Vimbai Chingwaramusee confirmed that Eng Manatsa submitted his resignation letter yesterday (Tuesday) and will be serving his 30 days notice.
Eng Manatsa is said to be joining Masvingo City Council as director of engineering services and is leaving the council a bitter man after several attempts by councilors to have him removed from his post.
Sources at Town House said moral among senior officials at the local authority has reached bottom low as they allege poor working relationship with the acting Town Clerk Mr Vakayi Chikwekwe and some councilors who are alleged to be on a witch-hunt to get rid of people suspected to be sympathizing with the suspended town clerk Ms Elizabeth Gwatipedza.
“Yes I will also be submitting my resignation letter as well, the environment is no-longer conducive for me to continue working here. I don’t mind taking up another job where there is a peaceful working environment,” said another official at town house.
