Big plans are in place for the Redcliff Rutendo Stadium as the Redcliff Municipality is going to resuscitate the stadium to suit the required standards.
Rutendo Stadium is to be renovated at a cost of $20000.
In a statement the Redcliff Mayor Councillor Fred Kapuya highlighted that the stadium had been out of use for a long time hence refurbishing the stadium.
”If this stadium is renovated I am sure it will boost money for the local authority, there are a lot of sporting activities which can be held in the stadium but due to the low standards people divert,” said Kapuya.
The renovations will include upgrading of the ablution facilities, changing rooms and also planting a new lawn.
Plans of supplying water to the stadium are in place as the Municipality has started drilling a borehole.
Cllr Kapuya added that the 15000 seater stadium will also host games during the night so there is need to repair flood lights also.
”Floodlights must be repaired in the event that some of the games might be hosted at night,” said Cllr Kapuya.
